Myrtis Franklin

Myrtis Delane Franklin, born January 5, 1933, in Winnsboro, Louisiana passed away on April 28, 2012 after a short battle with cancer. She died peacefully at her home in Petal, MS surrounded by her family.

Services will be held at Gills First National Funeral Home Chapel at 1 pm Thursday, May 3, 2012, with Reverend Jay Johnston, pastor at First Baptist Church of Covington, LA officiating. Interment will follow at Providence Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 – 8 pm Wednesday May 2, 2012 at the funeral home.

Myrtis was a Proverbs 31 woman. She “watched over the affairs of her household” no matter where that household may have been. She was the glue that held her family together whether in Singapore, Scotland, Nigeria, England, or the United States. Her greatest joy was serving her family, especially her two grandsons.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jim Franklin of Petal, MS; two daughters, Terry Schaefer and husband Dwayne of Mandeville, LA, and Lori Theriot of Atlanta, GA; and two grandsons, Brandon Schaefer and James Schaefer, both of Baton Rouge, LA. She also leaves behind a niece Karen Robinson, a nephew Kyle Robinson, and their father Ed Robinson. Myrtis also leaves behind numerous friends and family from around the world. She was preceded in death by one daughter, her parents Aubie and Marie (Casiday) Thomas, father in law Lonnie Franklin, mother in law Mignonne (Franklin) Raymond, her sister Audrey Lee Robinson, one niece Rosemarie Robinson, and one nephew Keith Robinson.

Pallbearers were Tommy Bingham, Larry Casiday, Jay Lynn Casiday, Dalton Wright, Donnie Wright, and Michael Wright.

Honorary pall bearers were Kyle Robinson, Guy Theriot, Michael Hart, Ricky Hart, and Byron Hart, and Jackie Farmer.

In lieu of flowers for Myrtis it would be appreciated that all tributes to Myrtis be in favor of St. Jude Childrens Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. or to the charity of your choice.
